Greg Brooks Co-owner, goldsmith and business manager of Östling and Brooks Ltd. has worked with his wife Margaret since the opening of our shop in Leavenworth in 1982. Greg wears many hats within our firm - from the execution of complex and intricate gold and platinum fabrications to designing, building and installing four separate showrooms and workshop facilities over the past 18 years. Our recent facility is the most complete and efficient yet and was built by Greg almost in its entirety. Much of our display is also built by Greg. Although Greg has always had an artistic bent, he never imagined a career as a goldsmith. Growing up in rural New Jersey, he was outdoorsy by nature and grew up to pursue a bachelors degree in biology from Earlham College in Richmond, IN. Moving to the Pacific Northwest after college to rock climb, he met an artist blacksmith and became fascinated by the design and technical challenges of wrought iron. By the time he met Margaret in 1981, he had acquired finely honed skills in metalsmithing. By applying his smithing skills to precious metals, Ostling and Brooks Designer Goldsmiths was born. Greg has attended numerous classes with GIA in jewelry manufacturing arts, jewelry repair and diamond grading. While he may be the one to answer your phone call he can also provide you with a wealth of information about your colored gemstone and diamond jewelry purchases. Greg shares his wife Margaret's interest in horses as well. Having spent many years hiking and skiing in the mountains of the West, his goal is to now see more of it from horseback. |
